Ritual – California Road Trip Day 9

Just a quiet moment in a busy family vacation schedule. Much needed, much appreciated. Reminds me of my grandma’s Jade-ite coffee cups, which now hold markers in my studio. She used to drink black coffee out of them pretty much all day long. Don’t know how she wasn’t jumping out of her skin. Maybe it was decaf? She would have turned 99 last week. I’m pretty sure she got the mugs free out of oatmeal boxes back in the day. Maybe even the whole set of dishes. They used to be a dime a dozen until Martha Stewart started collecting them and now the mugs are going for 25 bucks a pop on Ebay.

I love them because they remind me of her. On an unrelated note, today would have been my other grandmother’s 89th birthday. Happy birthday to my September Grandma and my September Granny.
