ABSTRACT COASTAL ART COLLECTION: CALIFORNIA COAST
This new ‘California Coast’ collection of abstract coastal art has me back at what seems to be ‘my’ palette.
Just as my hubby and I return to driving down the CA coast. I made that road trip with my family as a kid. My husband and I went there as often as we could back when we were DINKs.
Later on, we took our own kids. We replicated the same tourist stops my parents took my brother and me when I was about 13. Hopefully, our kids will have fond memories of that vacation, although most of the trip they complained about being cold. I guess they expected the whole CA coast to be sunny and LA warm.
These were such good family memories, that I wanted to capture not just the scenic views, but the reminder of vacationing to a place I love with the people I love in this new ‘California Coast’ abstract coastal art collection.
These new abstract coastal pieces are reminiscent of some of those stops along the way…
Half Moon, Monterey, Carmel, Big Sur, Hearst Castle, San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach, Santa Barbara, and on down from LA to San Diego.
Six large abstract coastal art pieces are now available, but the small ones release on March 31, with a pre-release to my newsletter subscribers the day before.
This perspective is my own, from the view of a traveler, tourist, and artist. I’m not a Californian, so I’m sure I missed the unique charm of out-of-the-way places or the depth of living there.
I chose to capture the feel of the place in this abstract coastal art collection. Whether the moody coastline of Big Sur, the sand in Pismo Beach, or the green of Carmel, none are representational. I had fun with that.
I focused on exploring shapes, color, line, and value and capturing the essence of a place I hope to get to visit soon.
In the meantime, I’ll keep painting.
