I WASN’T GOING TO DO THIS…
….and I’m still probably not going to post EVERY day.
Twice a year Leslie Saeta holds a ’30 paintings in 30 days’ challenge. I’ve done it twice.
I decided that I prefer to paint large, which is pretty difficult to do if you are trying to complete a painting every day. So I resolved not to do the daily painting challenge this time. Then the feed started coming through on Instagram and Facebook and Twitter. It made me feel like I was missing out on something.
But that still wasn’t enough for me to refocus from my 2015 goals, which do not include completing a painting each day. HOWEVER, what I DID realize was that I had a series of paintings I wanted to complete and I also wanted to paint for a period of time each weekday.
SO….in order to do this, I decided that I might as well post these paintings to the daily challenge just to keep me accountable. That said, I don’t plan on posting every day. I do plan on posting regularly. The idea of the challenge is to paint more. It’s the whole Malcom Gladwell 10,000 hours thing. Paint a lot, your work gets stronger. Simple.
I still plan on working on some pattern designs, some larger paintings, and a weekly licensing collection. Along with that, I’d like to do a bit more writing – inspirational blog posts, travel posts, and recipes too. Yes, an aggressive plan. Isn’t that what January is all about?
