HOLIDAY ART COLLECTION: BEHIND THE SCENES
My holiday art collection ‘Peaceful Holiday’ is about finished and will be available in my online shop on Friday, November 18! Every year I tell myself I’m going to paint ornaments in July, and it hasn’t happened yet, but maybe someday.
MY INSPIRATION
I was inspired to paint abstracted landscapes this year for my holiday art collection. The colors are muted and feel calm to me. However, I added some deep greens and pops of color to keep them interesting. With the frenzy of the holidays, I wanted to focus on a serene and peaceful feeling. I layered oil pastels, oil sticks, and charcoal over the paint, and to keep things clean and simple, I painted the canvases’ edges white. After they were complete, I sealed each piece with a gloss varnish and added a deep green grosgrain ribbon to the ornaments for hanging.
Small Originals on Canvas and Paper
In addition to Christmas ornaments, I’m offering small originals this year too. I painted 17 pieces on three sizes of small canvases and eight pieces on heavyweight watercolor paper. The small canvases work beautifully on a bookshelf or gallery wall and the work on paper is matted to fit into a standard 8 x 10 frame.
Archival Prints in the Holiday Art Collection
For this year’s holiday collection, I have also curated a small group of some of my favorite paintings to make available as beautiful fine art prints. These prints will be available only through the holiday season.
Holiday Shop Opens November 18
The holiday shop opens on Friday, November 18, for preorders. The holiday art collection will be available for my newsletter subscribers on Tuesday, the 15th. So if you want to see them first, be sure and get on the list. All orders will be shipped after the Thanksgiving holiday so that I can enjoy time with my family.
Join my newsletter for early access, as the ornament collection usually sells out quickly.
