Just a peek…
Do you think it’s better to name paintings after a place or based upon other criteria, such as ‘Morning Light’ or ‘My Boat’?
An artist friend said she likes to name her paintings like OPI nail polishes. You know..Starter Wife, Vamp, Hottie, and I’m Not Really a Waitress. No kidding. I looked them up on the internet.
The paintings in my last series were named Folly Day, Kiawah Day, Edisto Day…even my three left-brained family members told me those names were boring. I guess by the time I get to the naming part I’m ready to move on. Look for more interesting names on my paintings in the future. They’ve shamed me into spending more time on making them more meaningful. It could be fun.
Say you found a painting you fell in love with named Hilton Head Day, but you’ve never been there. Would you lose interest? Does it matter you have no personal connection to the place? Does it need to touch your heart? For me, I guess it does.
What do you think?
