ART RECEPTION IN DOWNTOWN MATTHEWS ON FRIDAY, APRIL 15.

Here are the details:

Artists Rick Crowley and Pam Wingard will be presenting new clay work and paintings at an opening reception on Friday April 15 from 7 – 8:30 pm at the McDowell Arts Center at 123 McDowell Street in Matthews. Light appetizers and beverages will be provided.

Rick loves his current spot on his evolution as an artist. “I feel like I have lived about ten different styles since finishing graduate school in 1995.”

As a practicing art teacher, business owner, and family man, the time to actually produce work is a valuable commodity and has challenged him “to find shortcuts”. He is currently collaborating with the Matthews’ Community Center to start a ceramics and pottery program.

Rick created the first Visual Arts program for the Greater Charlotte YMCA’s Morrison branch and was the first Senior Art Instructor ever hired.

Pam enjoys the bold use of color and brushstrokes to create her loose, painterly style. “I like the imperfectness of expressionistic paintings in bright colors and hope to connect and inspire others with my art, while adding a little beauty to the world.

The artwork will be on display at the McDowell Arts Center through the end of April.
