COASTAL ART: END OF SUMMER COLLECTION
This fresh new coastal art collection is inspired by those last few days of summer. As August winds down, it still feels like summer, but the world is screaming ‘back-to-school.’ I’m never ready, so this collection is a transition from those long, leisurely days that I remember.
Every summer since our kids were babies, we packed up our SUV and drove to Florida to spend a week at the beach. We spent our days making sandcastles, riding the waves, and throwing a football in the ocean. After long days at the beach, we rode our bikes in the shade of the palm trees, which cover the island.
This coastal art collection began with those palm trees.
Palm fronds swaying in the breeze, summer pastels, long days, hot nights, and relaxed living. Unscheduled time. Lingering long afternoons.
You know, before the craziness of September begins?
‘LAST DAYS OF SUMMER’ will be available to my newsletter subscribers on Monday.
The collection of coastal art began with palm trees, because who doesn’t love those? I mixed in some coastal abstracted landscapes because it was fun to play with color.
I painted some of the coastal art on paper, and some on gallery-depth canvas. Each piece is painted using mixed media; including acrylics, oil pastels, wax artist crayons, and charcoal. All are sealed with a varnish to preserve. Canvas pieces are wired and ready to hang. Works on paper fit into standard size frames.
